I notice a lot of people like to brag about what they've done in gaming because this is an interactive media where we play so much that we want competition to our gaming skills. Surprisingly enough I only have 3 gaming accomplishments that I will always cherish. When I look at accomplishments, I look at it like nobody has ever done it before and still keep the memories of doing it! So that means an accomplishment is NOT about beating a game (almost everyone has beaten a game), not about getting a stupid achievement or trophy from PS3 or Xbox 360, and I'm not talking about finishing a game with the highest difficulty. I am, of course just talking about some accomplishments that I've made and haven't seen anyone that did the same. So check this list out!
Number 3. - 100 Hit Ultra Combo in Killer Instinct
The moment that I found out what the hell a M.E.M.E was when I got hooked with emulators (I don't do emulators anymore, I prefer to get the hardcopy with less bugs and glitches), I wanted to immediately play an arcade game that I never got a chance of playing. That's Killer Instinct 1 & 2. The most addicting, yet challenging, part of the game is to get an ultra combo. During my training of playing the game I had to playing to constantly learn and understand how to pull off these moves and do the ever so popular ultra combo. It only works when your opponent's health part is at its last and depending on what stage you are, you can make opponents fly up in the air and maybe fall off the stage with style. It really hurts your hands to keep doing the same button combinations to make a combo because button mashing will only ruin your attempt to make an ultra combo. You can never do it with a keyboard, so I used my brother's arcade stick with a USB wire whenever I played the M.E.M.E. for Killer Instinct. Once a day, even for only 5 minutes, I always turn on Killer Instinct and keep practicing. For 3 months, I've been playing Killer Instinct 2 to see how many maximum combos I can make, and surely enough I remember what character I chose and who I had to face. I was playing my favorite character Fulgore and his opponent was Tusk the barbarian. I was so pumped and ready and had that feeling of excitement like I've never had before. Even though I was tired out of playing this game for 3 months, I wanted to make as many combos as I wanted to. Surely enough, when I had him flashing red I had the opportunity of doing that ultra combo after all the learning curve of using Fulgore and I keep repeating that laser shots and upper cuts. It got faster and faster, and I had to keep up or else it will ruin the combos. Surely enough, after that super uppercut, I heard that wonderful" Ultra… (Tusk lands on the ground) …COMBOOOOOO!" that had exactly 100 hits. My hands got numbed! Then I screamed with joy "YES!! I DID IT!!!" Like Osymandius from Watchmen. My brother came down wondering what the fuss was about. I kept screaming at him, "I DID IT! I MADE A 100 HIT ULTRA COMBO, BITCH!!!" I never felt so much adrenaline like that since I beat Dr. Nefarious in Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, but I did it!
Nowadays when you look at 100 hit ultra combos on YouTube, you don't ever see it on Killer Instinct or Killer Instinct 2, you see them being made by the easy fucking one (the new one on Xbox One). The fact that the new KI game always split second pause whenever you're making a combo, this makes combos way too easy. I tried it out not too long ago and I made a 100 hit ultra combo like it was nothing. If anything, the older KI and KI 2 is much better than Street Fighter IV… I mean Killer Instinct 3 (I'm never calling it Killer Instinct 2013).
Number 2. - Beating Psychomantis without Switching to Controller Port 2
You already read my long history with Psychomantis and for a long time, I was wondered if it's even fucking possible to actually beat this guy without switching to controller port 2. All my friends who were MGS fans said it's impossible, but I wanted to prove them otherwise. The trick is that he reads your mind from controller port 1 and you need to switch to port 2 so he won't dodge any of your moves. I refuse to believe that he could never be defeated when on port 1 because I remember a long time ago when I first played this game with my friends, one of them actually hit Psychomantis. The key thing about hitting your opponent is when he's off guard, and that's what I learned from fighting this guy. Whenever he's lifting objects with his mind, once the objects in the room is thrown and before he flies up, you got only one chance to hit him. The thing that sucks is that only hitting him only causes a little ounce of damage on him so repeating this cycle of takes a LONG time to defeat him this way. Along half way to his health bar, he said, "So you used the other. . . Cough" I'm assuming that the game was hinting that you needs a to switch to port 2 after all. I've had many attempts to do it and tried and tried again. I was getting really pissed doing it, I wanted to switch to port 2, but kept doing the same thing. Then finally, for some miracle, I managed to shoot this bastard and he finally got defeated. This felt like Jak 2 all over again, so I jumped and screamed, "YEAH!!! I DID IT!!!" So I invited my friends over to show them that it is possible to beat Psycho Mantis without switching ports. I managed to do it the second time right on front of them (it was easier the second time than it was the first) and they were shocked & in awe! Though there isn't a special cutscene or any reward in beating Mantis without switching ports, it was worth the experience to know that your childhood's worst nightmare can still be defeated by his own game!
Number 1. - Having over 80 Killstreak in Call of Duty
The reason why I never posted the Boochow 2009 Awards episode is because I still to this very day regret awarding Modern Warfare 2 (A fucking Call of Duty filth) as the game of the year award. To be perfectly honest, that was one and only Call of Duty game because the hype surrounding this game back in 2009 was insane and all the scenes (even the airport scene) got me interested. At the time I despised the Halo franchise so much that decided to pick it up out of revenge from that other piece of shit Halo 3: ODST (who thought that was even a good game to begin with?) It was released in November and that Boochow episode was recorded in December of 2009, so I only played this game for about a month and I didn't even finish it yet. And when I realized that the story doesn't make any lick of a sense, I started to hate this game more and more. Then finally, I realized that the whole fanbase only likes the series the same way they liked Halo; the multiplayer. I admit that this multiplayer was fun, but it ain't no Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, WarHawk, or Power Stone 2 level of multiplayer, that's for sure! I gave up my copy of the game in early 2010 and got REALLY annoyed by the hype surrounding the franchise years later because it doesn't deserve any of that kind of praise.
So how did I get a 100 killstreak if I gave up the game? Well, a childhood friend of mine (I forgive him for being a Call of Duty fan) called me over to play with him some COD in his room when I visited him to Delaware when we evacuated out of Japan when that Earthquake & tsunami happened in 3/11/11. Though we had an awful time living in a redneck country some state I forgot, we finally had contact with a family friend who was willing to take us in. I haven't seen him in a long time but I was more than eager to spend time with him… even if it means playing COD.
Though I forgot which COD game he was playing (seriously they all look the same), I remember one morning when he was getting pissed at playing against a player better than his team, he asked me to try it out before he throws his controller. Then, I customized his gear by getting a shot gun, unlimited sprint, and a good arsenal of kill streak awards. Sooner or later, the shotgun became my best ally. I couldn't believe how much easier the game was because I was just killing guys left and right, leaping towards the distance, running as fast as I can because I had no patience (like every multiplayer game I played) and just kept shooting at every enemy I see! My friend was sitting next to me all amazed that I could really do this stuff! Sure I got killed a couple of times, but I always got back to the game and keep killing, the video here is similar to the same experience that I was having when I was killing these fools.
When the game ended, I had say about 81 kills. My friend and I jumped out with excitement and he asked "How the fuck did you do that, man!?!" I looked at him with a smirk on my face in response "I play Ratchet & Clank and Jak 2" So my answer to everyone that wants to get better in multiplayer games is to play those two series. They're more action packed, harder in difficulty, and even gets you thinking about what you should do next when you have to kill people. Plus playing a Call of Duty game is WAY too easy because a gun shot only takes one person down and self regeneration makes it too simple, unlike other video games where they have Hit Points and chances. Though I still despise Call of Duty, I will always remember that moment with my childhood friend where I helped him break his own record!
