Video Game Genres - Sandbox Games

(Episode 7) In this episode of Video Game Genres, we take a look at one of the most popular genre of games today. This is a genre that is most remembered for their open world design and letting the players to have the ability to free-roam. Thus in the another long episode of the Video Game Genres series, I'll be taking a close look at the origins of the genre (which created the nonlinear game-world), games that defined the genre and changed everything, how such gameplay works to categorize a nonlinear game as a sandbox game, look at the ironies of the name & metaphor of the genre, and more. My duty is to promote this video game genre and show you guys what many of these games have to offer; free-roam in the virtual world, great variety of missions to keep the game fun, and almost everything that's put in the game-world created a level of realism and making them lively.

Well, this video took me a whole month to do so I hope that this was worth the wait. it was this very video that was the reason why I haven't posted a video in almost over a month. It was a VERY hard video to make and I did it because it's been a very long time since there was an episode of this video series so I hope it was worth it =)

Video Game Genre - Fighting Games

(Episode 6) In this episode of Video Game Genres, we take a look at one of the most popular and socializing game genres ever. This is a genre that focuses more on action on one or more various opponents that takes time and skill in beating anyone that stands in your way. It doesn't exactly have an adventure like other action video games, but sets you immediately to fight against an opponent set in a stage limited with such room, health, and move sets. Thus in the longest episode of the Video Game Genres series, I'll be taking a close look at the origins of the genre, games that defined the genre and changed everything, how a fighting exactly works when playing any of them, things in common towards all fighting games, naming the subgenres, negatives, and more. Still to this day, Fighting Games have been the number 1 pick up and play competitive gameplay that grew a rapid wild audience around the world. Since fighting games kinda went downhill in the 90's and struggled to get back to the top as the best competitive gameplay in the industry. My duty is to promote this video game genre and show you guys what many of these games have to offer; challenging, intense battle with CPU or other players.

I can't believe that this whole episode is nearly 30 minutes and I plan not to make a review this long ever again, but for this episode of Video Game Genres, it must be this long because of how much elements and features that needs to be discussed, plus all the videos that needed to be recorded. Really, it was this very video that was the reason why I haven't posted a video in almost over a month. It was a VERY hard video to make and I did it because it's been a very long time since there was an episode of this video series so I hope it was worth it =) One more thing, I plan to NOT to make the episodes of Video Game Genres to be in HD because I don't want past episodes of the series to look outdated when they never were in HD. So I'm doing my best to make the episodes more focused on quality of information rather than how good it looks. Don't worry, my reviews and all my other videos will be in HD, but not episode of Video Game Genres. Anyway, I'll do my very best to make another 3D Platformer review coming soon!

Video Game Genre - Adventure Games

(Episode 5) In this episode of Video Game Genres, we take a very good look at the most important genre in video games, period. This is a genre that does not have action in them, but rather puzzle-solving, exploration, dialog, and story-driven type of games that we don't see as often. These games are some of the most well crafted and well designed games than many of the modern mainstream games that oversaturated action cliché that barely makes a difference. Adventure games are all about using your brains which requires hard thinking and patients when in play. They were once the most popular game genre in the 1980's, but now they're far from being the number 1 genre of gaming today. So my duty is to promote this video game genre and show you guys what many of these games have to offer; memorable & well-developed characters, original & creative setting, and some of the BEST story-lines in video games, ever! The storylines in these adventure games has some of the most thrilling, comedic, and intuitive storylines that you can EVER find in video games. Even more original than many people's favorite game's storyline and that's saying a lot in talking about this genre as a whole.

Video Game Genre - Cinematic Platformer

(Episode 4) Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the most under-appreciated video game genre of all time! This 2D Platformer subgenre the does not defy the laws of physics like in traditional 2D Platformers, but rather takes realism into its own hands by making it realistic (in 2D Platformer standards). These games have provided real challenge, puzzles, adventure, and magic to gaming that it is a shame that it isn't a successful genre.

Also it feels like nothing is done after doing this video so the rest of November I'm going to do many reviews on some of the best games in this subgenre and by the end of the month, I'm going to give you guys "My Top 10 Cinematic Platformers" in which I'll be naming some of the best games in order, in my opinion. This subgenre has really caught my attention that I'm surprised that not that many people talk about this more. So I'm here to do my very best in promoting this subgenre and get you guys to see these games the way I see them. Video Game Genres - Survival Horror

part 2

(Episode 3) This is an action-adventure sub-genre with horror elements. Happy Halloween, everybody & what better way to celebrate than to talk about some scary games and Survival Horror is a great pick. But this video isn't just about Survival Horror, but also other Horror genres in general before Survival Horrors that terrified gamers back in the day. Because there's more to horror games than Survival Horrors; we can't forget about these old scares and just focus on one genre. So in this episode, I'll be talking about the origins of Survival Horror with text-based adventure games, to horror point-and-click adventure games, FMVs, first-person shooters, and what game started the Survival Horror phenomenon, and most of all what makes a Survival Horror game and over-analyze the downfall of horror Less
games in general.

Video Game Genre - Metroidvania

(Episode 2) This is a 2D Platformer subgenre that Metroid has created & influenced many games today. In this episode of Video Game Genres I discuss about the Metroidvania subgenre & discuss about the structure and how many games like it has similar gameplay. Even though there aren't that many Metroidvania games there are plenty of them in the indie scene. Video Game Genre - 3D Platformer

(Episode 1) This is the first episode of this new monthly series that I'm doing. That is Video Game Genre because we have SO many video games put in a category where they have a lot of similarities and should not be ignored. The first episode of Video Game Genre is my favorite genre in gaming; 3D Platformers/Platform Games.

1) This is where I first discuss about the brief history from where the genre originated and was created for what it is today.
2) What every 3D Platformer has in common that made it a 3D Platformer.
3) Mention the pro & cons
4) And talk about my overall opinion of 3D Platformers, or Platform games in genreal.

For those who waited for this video, sorry for the delay, but this video took me an entire week to do so if I miss anything, don't bother to mention it. I'll be doing more of video game genres videos in the coming future, not a weekly thing, but rather wait for a new episode of this series for a month or two. Hey, maybe while I'm at it, maybe I can do some reviews on the games that are in this video that I haven't already done yet. =)
