Gexup - My Top Dozen Animated Movies based on an Animated Series

Animated movies based on cartoons banner photo Slide1_zps52af5efa.jpg

Being a huge fan of animated television series, I always feel that the best way you can satisfy its fans is to give the show an adaption to an animated film. It’s almost like a grand finale that’s bigger than a tv show finale or a finest moment for the characters of the show. Whenever there’s a movie that’s based on a show that I like, I always appear at opening day in my local theater.  There have been plenty of animated shows that managed to have their own animated feature but it has to be really popular to even get itself a theatrical release, which is something that doesn’t happen that often any more. But no matter, as long as it’s a feature length film, (theatrical release or direct-to-home movies) it is a possible contender to make it on the list but here’s the catch… in order to make it in my list they have to follow these rules:

  1. The animation quality has to be better than the show - I mean it’s a feature length film; they should have the budget to actually make something fantastic for us animation buffs.  If the animation quality is not much of an improvement over the show, then it looses its ranking to rise to the top or not even make it in this dozen list.
  2. The story has to be better than any episode from the show – It doesn’t have to be better written than the best episode of the show, but dammit we need to show the movie audience why the show is so good. They have to make a show that’s more memorable and exciting than the show. If you’re going to make a film based on a show, don’t ever miss the opportunity to 'wow' your fans of the show because it’s the grand stage that only happen once (or more if the show’s popular enough to have more film sequels)
  3. It has to be based on a cartoon or anime, NOT comic books – My list of the best comic book movies will be coming soon, but for now, I’m only focusing on the animated series that popularized itself to be on the big screen.  I can’t qualify a movie that’s based on a television series that’s base on a comic book because it’s the comic book alone that earned itself to make it’s own film release, not the television series that’s based on the comic book. Because there are shows that I really like (Batman: The Animated Series, Spider-Man, X-Men) that had a really great television series, but its source is comics. However, anime based on a manga is an exception because we North Americans are more familiar with anime than we are manga.
  4. The movie based on an animated series has to be animated – I cannot qualify a live-action movie that’s based on an animated series because they do not represent animation nor do they show the animator’s true potential. Plus there has been HORRIBLE live-action films that are based on animated series that bastardized the cartoons that we love. This list is all about the animated movies, and if it’s not an animated movie, then it can’t make it in this list.

Now with all that being said, I hope you have a better understanding with my very own picks. So let’s begin this list... and remember this is my list, not yours… and if you don’t like it, don’t bitch about it.

Gexup - Comic Book & Graphic Novel Collection

I'm coming back home, but first I must make a video... and it's my first ever collection video! This is basically all the comics and graphic novels I bought when I arrived in America and I finally bought comic books and graphic novels that I couldn't get in Japan. Comics is my favorite media and I just couldn't help myself but to buy as much as I could. So enjoy watching what I've collected. I do admit I talked a little too much in this video, but seeing that most of you guys don't really know much of my background history with comics and my fans are more into video games, just check these out, they're some of the coolest things ever, in my humble opinion.

Gexup - Looney Tunes Month - Top 10 Underrated Characters

Obscure... not used enough... Should have been more... Not Loved enough... Not everyone's attention... These are the words that define the word "underrated." There's a huge cast of characters in Looney Tunes and I can tell you how many of them deserve more attention and have more Looney Tunes cartoons. I can tell you that after watching hundreds of cartoons from this show after all of these years, there have been a lot that's been in my attention that I can't believe didn't get recognition considering that other characters had so much star-power and appeal. Here in this list, I have 10 characters in order that does have equal appeal to the main stars that we all know of today and also had their own characteristic personality, but couldn't live that long due to lack of popularity or variety of episodes.

A huge qualifier for a character to be in this list is if the character didn't make it on My Top 10 List of My Favorite Looney Tunes Characters (except one) and if none of your favorites were in there, prepare to see them in this list because of how much recognition they really do deserve!

Gexup - Looney Tunes Month - Top 10 Looney Tunes Characters

It has bee a long hiatus on animation reviews, and I think we need to spice things up...

What can be said about Looney Tunes/Marrie Melodies? I can't do a review on it because everyone in the whole world that is familiar with animation already knows how fantastic and iconic this cartoon show really is. It's been the most inspiring cartoon of all time because of it's delivery with humor, creative character traits, outrageous personalities, and unconditional charm that will never be forgotten. Looney Tunes has been a huge part of my life and it's probably the first thing I've ever seen on television. Growing up as a child, my father treated my brother and I like Looney Tunes characters like he's Elmer Fudd and we're Bugs Bunny & Daffy getting the best of him. It's been 5 generations that my family has been watching Looney Tunes and I plan to continue the tradition with Looney Tunes down my own family line. Famous names and cartoonists today also grew up watching this cartoon because it has that universal appeal that cannot be matched.

Once you hear the theme song you instantly know what the series is exactly, just like how everyone recognizes the Star Wars opening theme.

The reason why I can't review Looney Tunes as a whole is because watching an episode of it is a review of itself, you either get entertained by it or just move on to the next episode. Just spending under 10 minutes watching the classic Looney Tune cartoons is almost like having a time for a meal for me; you can't live without it.

I'm am however going to give you guys on itstailtime.net my own lists relating to Looney Tunes throughout the month of March 2013. And the list for today is...

Everyone has their favorite characters in Looney Tunes, and each of them are lovable because of their trademarks, personality traits, and flaws. That's what makes the cartoon so perfect because of all the things I've pointed out makes it so amusing to watch. I like to remind everyone that this list is for the main characters that are my personal favorite, but I will however be making a separate list for the minor/obscure characters seen in this cartoon during Looney Tunes month. What I look for in choosing the best Looney Tunes character is how much their personality sticks out, how much appeal do they gain for me each time I see them on the screen, and most of all, how hard did they made me laugh. I grew up with these characters and stuck with them throughout my life and just seeing any of them is almost like a family to me. Having that being said, the toughest part was deciding which one was the most enjoyable to watch. It took me a while to think long and hard about it, but I finally made my decision in order who where my favorites. So here they are, my 10 favorite Looney Tunes characters!

Gexup - Favorite Romances (Valentines Day Special)

Well love is in the air on Valentines Day and when I don't have a date at this time of the year I usually just watch any media with romance on it. Romance is some of my favorite genre and sub-genre because it's just a whole different experience and it hurts me to see a romance bad due to the fact that the love is forced, 1-Dimensional, and doesn't really have a purpose other than putting two couples together. To me, a great romance is when they have a whole different challenge and different kind of love; like passionate love, playful love, lust, or destiny. I know what is actually a good romantic story when I see one and here are some of my romances told in comic books, movies, television, video games, ect.

Gexup - My Top 25 Favorite Animated Movies

I’ve watched animated movies, animated television series, comic books, and so much more that has to do with animation my entire life and still to this day I’ve never lost my interest in animation. For me, any sort of animation is the perfect choice of escapism that takes anyone off of reality and wrap in a hand-drawn or computer-animated world coming straight out from our modern artist’s imagination. It is why I want to start doing animation reviews on itstailtime.net because of my unconditional love with animation. In my animation reviews you’re going to see me review any sort of animation from animated features, cartoon series, comic book series, comic strips, anime, manga, and more. Surprisingly enough my first entry for Gexup’s Animation reviews is My Top 25 Animated Films.

Probably most of you are thinking it should be better if I should have made this a surprise doing this list much later, unlike my video game reviews where I show you guys my taste in video games and soon reveal my Top 10 Favorite games of all time. The truth is I want you guys to know what kind of animated films I love right after reading this list rather than just building up to my highlight in revealing favorites of all time of list, like what I’m still currently doing my video game reviews. I wanted to do my own animated movies list right after Rants on the Run Episode 3 where Cendoo, Zookstar1000, and I went through IGN’s Top 25 Animated Movies list and reacted emotionally with anger and dissatisfaction. If you haven’t seen that episode, you should click on the link below to understand my taste for animation.

http://www.itstailtime.net/2012/05/rants-on-run-episode-3-ign-top-25.html

Nevertheless, let me describe what kind of picks I’ve made in [my] own Top 25 List. I’m an animation-buff; a person who will give any sort of animation a chance (if it has a neat concept) but the ones I seek for is outstanding animation quality that feels so natural and mesmerizing when characters, objects, and anything moving on screen moves so smoothly that it should be taken like art. Anything that looks cheap, lackluster, or looks simplistic is something I won’t bother to care for. Secondly, I want in animated films is a really and I do mean really good plot. I really grind my teeth when there are older audiences who sees animated films as just for children because for that reason alone, Hollywood animation studios like to give their audiences plots that are not challenging or anything remarkable in a sort of way, while live-action films somehow is reserved for the best scripts. Children’s animated films can be challenging as well, but still to this day animated films aimed for children doesn’t take its’ that demographic idiotically. You’re not going to see my picks that are there for nostalgia; I’m taking off my nostalgia-goggles for the sake of quality, great storytelling, entertainment value, and artistic value, so this list is not going to be flooded with Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, or just anime fill up the list. Keep in mind that [my] Top 25 Animated Movies list is more than just my personal opinion, but they are films that inspired me to become an animator and make animated films for a living, not a list that’s trying to prove that it’s the best of all time. With that being said, here is my Top 25 Animated Films
